It's National School Bus Safety Week, and there's no better time than now to familiarize yourself with school bus stopping laws: 1) When you meet a stopped school bus with red signal lights flashing and stop arm extended, you MUST STOP. 2) When you approach an intersection where a school bus is stopped with red signal lights flashing and stop arm extended, you MUST STOP, whether you are on the same street or the cross street. 3) You MUST STOP at least 10 feet away from the school bus. 4) Drivers do not have to stop on a highway with clearly defined dividing sections or physical barriers providing separate roadways. This only applies when the school bus is on the opposite side of the road. 5) You MUST WAIT until the red lights have stopped flashing and the stop arm has been withdrawn before moving. 6) DO NOT MOVE until all the children have reached a place of safety. Please keep in mind that stop-arm safety technology is being installed on all ASD school buses to help Abington Police better enforce school bus stopping laws. The safety of our students as they travel to and from school is the responsibility of our entire community!

A big thank you to our McKinley PTO for bringing Briar Bush to our 2nd grade class! The students learned about the "ingredients" that make up soil and had the opportunity to add those items to create their own soil mixture. They also discussed the vital role that soil plays in supporting all living things. It was a fantastic and educational experience for everyone!
