On Friday night, Abington School District hosted the first-ever regional elementary Best Buddies event at Abington Senior High School. The event, to which Best Buddies chapters from across the region were invited, featured face-painting, a photo booth, sensory and coloring stations, a yoga session, and dancing for families in attendance. Thank you to the Special Education Department for organizing this event, and to our ASHS student volunteers! #ASDProud

Second graders in Mrs. McDaniel’s class at McKinley Elementary prepared for the upcoming baseball season while reading Luke Goes to Bat by Rachel Isadora. Students began the day with the National Anthem and Mr. Oldham threw out the first pitch. Mr. Oldham also gave the students an entertaining pitching tutorial. The students created Phanatic headbands and participated in baseball related learning activities throughout the day.








The Vibe and Imagine field trip to Penn State Abington's campus was an exciting and educational experience. During the visit, the group met with the Robotics department, where they learned about the fascinating world of 3D printing and saw robots in action. The trip concluded with a tour of the campus, offering a chance to learn more about student life at Penn State Abington.

The 1st and 2nd graders at McKinley were treated to a visit from Officer Christine Da Cunha from the Abington Police Department and her K9 Leo. The students heard the story "Officer Buckle and Gloria." They also learned about K9Leo's job and saw the tricks he knows how to do!




McKinley’s 2nd and 3rd graders are enjoying Spanish Club, learning new words and making friends!








Thank you to Senator Art Haywood, who presented a check to McKinley Elementary School as part of the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. McKinley was awarded $1.5 million to implement energy savings projects and renovations, including facilities repairs and upgrades. #ASDProud



Just in time for Read Across America Week, celebrated March 2-6, 2025, Abington School District Is launching a new poster campaign called “ASD Reads!”, designed to promote literacy and encourage a love of reading among students of all ages.
With more than 100 unique designs that will be displayed across the District’s 10 school buildings, bus garage and Administration Building, the poster artwork features staff members districtwide, including teachers, paraprofessionals, administrative assistants, bus drivers, custodians, administrators and more. School directors were also included in the campaign. All of the featured personnel were photographed holding their favorite book so that they can share this personal fun fact about themselves with students.
“ASD Reads!” posters will be displayed throughout each school, from libraries and cafeterias, to hallways and classrooms, beginning this week.
