We were #ASDProud to have had Dr. Alice Swift and Abington Senior High School students represent the District at the Remembrance Ceremony of the 80th anniversary of D-Day last week at the Edward R. Micciolo War Memorial Park on Old York Road.
We are #ASDProud that Abington Senior High School was again designated as a "No Place for Hate" school by the Anti-Defamation League for the 2023-2024 school year. This year, the ADL trained a group of students at the high school, as well as teachers Ms. Sandler Ligi and Ms. Katz, to be Anti-Bias Peer Trainers. These students have now become the school's No Place for Hate Committee, and are already planning events for next year, including turn-around training for a new batch of student leaders!
Overlook Elementary School recently hosted their 13th Annual Wax Museum Presentation. Congratulations to the 5th grade students who worked hard researching and presenting their chosen characters! #ASDProud
Yesterday, students at Abington Middle School celebrated Pride Month by eating snacks in the cafeteria and writing positive and supportive messages on the sidewalk of the bus loop after school. During the previous week, the GSA members put together a slideshow of notable LGBTQ+ figures throughout history to be shared on the morning announcements. #ASDProud
As today commemorates the 80th anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944, we remember those who fought and sacrificed their lives for our country. On this day, we take a moment to memorialize the former students of Abington Senior High School who gave their lives that day and throughout World War II.
Last week Abington Senior High's Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) club hosted Ghost Games 2024. Many thanks to the faculty members who supported this event and volunteered to referee the games! #ASDProud
