Abington School District (ASD) is dedicated to ensuring that our websites and digital services are accessible to individuals with disabilities in accordance with the requirements set forth by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. 

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. 794d) mandates that public entities ensure individuals with disabilities can access and use electronic and information technology (ICT) comparable to individuals without disabilities. This includes websites, software, and other digital content. Abington School District is committed to following these principles to ensure equal access for all.

On April 24, 2024, the federal government published the Department of Justice’s final rule updating the regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). These new guidelines are known as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This rule sets standards for state and local government entities to follow, on websites or other online platforms used by the government entities, including school districts. The deadline for school districts to comply with these regulations, if the population of their attendance zone is greater than 50,000, is April 24, 2026.  

Our websites comply with the best practices and standards defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, to the greatest extent possible. These guidelines provide a framework to ensure that web content is accessible to a wider range of individuals, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, or motor disabilities.
