Today we celebrate freedom in recognition of Juneteenth.
At the Montgomery County's Juneteenth celebration in Norristown, ASHS rising 11th grader Maddie Krassner's essay was selected as one of the winning entries. Maddie participated in the Juneteenth flag raising ceremony this morning, where she read an excerpt from her essay. She also received a $100 gift card and a beautiful certificate. #SummerinASD

Players from both the Abington Baseball and Softball teams spent the afternoon at Overlook reading a chapter of the Title 1 summer reading book, "The Philly Fake," a mystery novel that takes place at Citizens Bank Park. Before reading, the players joined students at recess for baseball and softball-themed games. #ASDProud
Grade 5 students at Roslyn Elementary School were treated to an end-of-year DARE celebration with Officer Connelly and Sergeant LaRosa. Students enjoyed water ice, toured an Abington Township police vehicle, and raced Duke the police dog. Not to be out done, Sergeant LaRosa also agreed to race the students, though there is still some debate around who won. #ASDProud
