To celebrate the culmination of their unit on Ancient Greece, Highland Elementary second graders hosted their 2nd Annual Potato Olympics! Second graders and their potato athletes competed in numerous tests of strength and agility, while their 5th grade partners earned service hours hosting the events and cheering on their younger classmates. Just like the ancient Greek athletes who began the first Olympics, the day was all about teamwork and having fun while learning! #ASDProud

To celebrate Fire Prevention Month, Overlook Elementary kindergarten classes enjoyed a visit from the Abington Fire Company. They learned about what to do in a fire emergency, and all the gear that firefighters wear to be safe. The students ended their visit by thanking the volunteer firefighters for their bravery and service. #ASDProud

Last week, the Pennsylvania Commission on Judicial Independence hosted various Montgomery County schools at Arcadia University, where high school students discussed judicial review, the role of courts, exercising the right to vote, and the three branches of government. They also reviewed court cases and then deliberated about them in small groups with the judges. ASHS students enjoyed the opportunity to interact with judges and Arcadia faculty, with some students event solidifying their commitment to the Government and Legal Services Pathway as part of the Pathways Program. #ASDProud #ASDPathways

We are proud that all nine Abington School District schools were among the 68 schools statewide to have been recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for completing last year’s Governor’s Breakfast Challenge! The goal of the challenge was to increase student participation in school breakfast, which is free for all students. Abington’s schools were recognized for our commitment and contribution to child nutrition and the education of students.
