Join the Abington Senior High School's ACTIVE Academy and STRIVE students for their annual holiday pop-up shop, right here in the Abington School District Administration Building! On Thursday, December 18, from 9-10 a.m., shop their offerings of handmade items and crafts, as well as their Ability Greetings cards and gift tags, all available for a suggested donation. This event is open to the public, but non-District employees must be prepared to sign in using the Raptor Visitor Management System.

While Ms. England's class carved a turkey last week, Ms. Vanassche's Regional Cuisine Class was busy saving a turkey by celebrating the holiday with a Student-Made Regional Pizza Party! For the second level of cooking, students learned about different regions of the United States, including their flavors, culture and history. They then worked hard to incorporate the flavors unique to their assigned region into their pizza recipes. Students were excited to showcase their talents and invite a staff member to come dine with them!

Chef Max Schindler visited ASHS Regional Cuisine classes, where he shared his background, passion for the culinary arts, and knowledge of ingredients and how interchangeable they can be. He encouraged students to try new foods, and demonstrated how to roll sushi! #ASDProud #ASDPathways

During American Education Week, members of Abington Senior High School’s S.T.R.I.V.E. and A.C.T.I.V.E. Academy served hot and cold beverages and snacks to the Transportation staff prior to dismissal time. Many thanks to all who transport our students safely each and every day! #ASDProud

Throughout the first week of November, Overlook students listened to stories about Veterans serving in the military past and present. They used Library databases to research Military Dogs, Service Dogs for Disabled Veterans, and Solemn Memorials of those who gave their lives to defend freedom, such as the War Memorial Wall of Vietnam, The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the history of the Poppy symbol of remembrance. This research culminated in the 7th annual outreach project of every student making a card for a Veteran in their family, or for the Overlook Owl Outreach to the Delaware Valley Veterans' Home. #ASDServiceLearning
