A new tradition in observance of Memorial Day began at Abington Senior High School this morning when students in the Military Club, led by Ms. Carmina Vanassche, laid a wreath at the flag pole in memory of all those who lost their lives in service to our country, including many from our own Abington community. ASHS students learned about careers in the Air National Guard at Biddle Air Force Base. They learned how to gear up for hazardous situations, were challenged physically, and met with TSgt Lian Drake, USAF, Air Force & Space Force Recruiter. It was a great learning opportunity!
The Regional Cuisine curriculum provided a chance for ASHS Culinary students to prepare various Hawaiian meals, culminating in a Luau to showcase their skills. Students enjoyed the flavors of the island, especially the Spam Musubi, which is always surprising for them! #ASDProud

Congratulations to Abington Senior High Social Studies Teacher, Ms. Betina Roher, who was honored at Tuesday's meeting of the Board of School Directors for being named the grand prize winner in Montgomery County of the Citadel Heart of Learning Award, earning a $5,000 prize for herself and $5,000 for the high school. This year, which is the 25th anniversary of the program, Citadel Credit Union received a record-breaking 3,200 nominations from across the six counties of the Greater Philadelphia area; Ms. Roher received more than 50 of those nominations, and was among just a handful of teachers recognized in Montgomery County, with nominations highlighting how she excels at student engagement. #ASDProud #AwardsofASD
