On Earth Day, Mrs. Bocian’s 6th grade science classes went outside and got an introduction to nature journaling. It’s a great way to connect with nature, sharpen observations skills, and manage stress.

Dear NJHS Families and Prospective NJHS Families,
Our formal application process for admission to the National Junior Honor Society for the 2025-2026 academic year will take place in the fall of 2025, dates TBD. For now, Abington Middle School students interested in applying for the 2025-2026 school year are required to complete and log 10 Service Hours by June 13, 2025. Students must preliminarily turn in their service logs via this Google Form by June 13, 2025. We will not accept late submissions. Students will upload an image of their service logs online until the physical logs are formally collected during our paper application collection period in the fall. If the log is not turned in online via the form by June 13th, 2025, we cannot invite the student to apply in the fall.

On Friday, Ms. Barabasz’s 7th grade Honors class had a debate arguing the proposition, “violence is never justified.” Three speakers from each team presented their arguments and were then cross-examined by the opposing team. Rebuttal speakers presented concluding statements and a team of judges, made of both students and teachers) determined a winner. Both teams were lead by a chairwoman that organized the event. Ultimately the judges decided that the affirmative team was the most convincing, but all students presented very convincing arguments.

Mrs. Martucci's class celebrated "Stargirl Day" after they finished reading the novel. Some students chose to dress up like the main character or bring in “pets” to represent Stargirl’s pet rat Cinnamon that she brings everywhere with her. The class also wrote anonymous notes to staff or friends to spread joy, and shared acts of kindness while listening to uplifting music that celebrated friendship, individuality, love and being fearless!
