It has been an amazing Spring for our AMS music students. Jazz Band hosted its annual Jazz Jam. The 6-8 Choirs sang the National Anthem at the Phillies and enjoyed a great game. Band, Chorus & Orchestra won first place in the Music in the Parks Festival in Hershey, PA. M4 students participated in the Modern Band Invitational at ASHS. All of our groups had successful concerts. The AMS Music Department closed its season with a standing room only audience for the Talent Show! Some of our modern band students will be performing in the High School Summer Sounds June 2 & 3. Thanks to all of our amazing performers and musicians for a great year!

On Wednesday 5/31, AMS Student Council hosted our first ever Culture Day! Some dressed in traditional outfits, some performed cultural songs and dances, and some gave interesting presentations on their cultures! Many visitors said the best part was all the delicious samples of cultural cuisines they were able to try. Thanks so much to all the students and staff who made Culture Day a huge success!

#ASDProud: A group of 8th grade students at Abington Middle School recently elected to spend their lunches reading a book called "A Most Beautiful Thing" with their school counselors, Ms. Haynes and Ms. Adam. Yesterday, the author, Arshay Cooper, joined the group for a virtual Q&A, where students could ask about the book that is a moving true story about Cooper's life growing up on Chicago’s West side, and involvement in the formation of the nation's first all-black high school rowing team.
