The @abingtonsrhigh ACTIVE Academy's The Perfect Blend On The Go... will continue having iced and hot beverage service at the Abington Township Building and Police Station on Tuesday, September 30, from 10 a.m. until noon. Flu & COVID Vaccine Clinic in Partnership with Eric's Rx on Saturday 10/11, from 10am-1pm in Caf A at ASHS

On Wednesday, October 1, Abington School District will celebrate the third annual Pink Pants Day in memory of former Abington Middle School English teacher, Mr. Chris Hamsher. During October, Mr. Hamsher combined his desire to help others with his flair for fashion by frequently sporting pink pants in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To continue this tradition, students and staff are invited to wear pink pants (or a pink shirt) on the first day of October. A fundraiser among staff will also aim to raise money for a scholarship fund created in his memory. #ASDProud #OneASD #LeadwithLove

UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to limited registrations, it is necessary to postpone this event to a future date.

Community organizations and local mental health experts will lead a discussion about mental health and wellness among our area’s youth and young adults, including how to identify signs of distress, how to support them in maintaining healthy mindsets, what you can do to help during times of a mental health crisis, and social-emotional resources that are available right in our own backyards. The free event is sponsored by the Abington Community Taskforce (ACT) in partnership with Citizens and Police Together (CAPT) and Penn State Abington.

These seminars are designed to orient families to the services and supports that are offered by school counselors. Last week, Ms. Ambrose's classes at Abington Middle School participated in the annual "book tasting", where they had opportunities to "sample" books before checking them out to bring home. Between her three classes, students ended up checking out more than 50 books during the event! #ASDReads #ASDProud

Our final #SummerinASD post! Thanks for sharing all of your summer adventures! McKinley 5th grader, Andrii Adamchuk, visited Niagara Falls with his family. As a big fan of Lego, he also fulfilled his dream of visiting Legoland, New York!

The Fugarolas and Hannum families, including AMS 6th grader Laia Fugarolas & her brother & sister Jordi and Gemma (Rydal, grades 1 & 3), and Rydal 5th grader Quinn Hannum and her brothers Wes and Seamus (Rydal grades 3 & K), spent the last weeks of summer in la Costa Brava, Spain. As an age-appropriate lesson on 9/11 for some of our youngest learners in Abington School District, elementary schools focused on the themes of community and heroism today. In Mr. Hudson's 1st grade Explorations class at McKinley, this involved making thank you cards for our local firefighters.
