Yesterday, fifth-grade students from ASD's seven elementary schools joined together as one Abington Class of 2030 for 5th Grade CommUNITY Day, a transition event before they all become classmates at Abington Middle School next school year. Activities included ice breakers, teambuilding games, a barbecue lunch and receiving their first Class T-shirt. #ASDProud #ASD7to1

Congratulations to our 2023 Silver Pen Award winners, who were recognized at last night’s meeting of the Board of School Directors. The awards, which are sponsored by the @abingtonedfoundation, honor 5th grade students who have exhibited outstanding writing ability. The meeting also included recognition of the first-ever winners of the Abington Middle School Writing Awards, which are sponsored by the AEF as well. #ASDProud #AwardsofASD

Ahead of last night's meeting of the Board of School Directors, the Innovative Instruction Committee hosted a showcase in the new Innovation Incubator at Abington Senior High School. Teachers and students had the opportunity to highlight some of the innovative projects, lessons, and programs happening within Abington Schools, and to demonstrate some of the latest technologies and their applications inside the classroom. #ASDProud #4CsofASD

Overlook's 5th Grade classes held their 12th annual Wax Museum last week! Upon the conclusion of their research paper, students prepared speeches, costumes and displays, as they "came to life" as wax characters for the younger students, faculty and guests. #ASDProud

Did you know? There are 36 different languages spoken among students in Abington School District, from Spanish, to Ukrainian, Chinese, Albanian and more! Families of students enrolled in English Language Development courses had the opportunity to attend a districtwide Family Engagement Night yesterday, where staff and older students volunteered to serve as interpreters for attendees. #ASDProud
