Dear Abington School District Parents and Guardians,

In the past few days, you should have received a communication from your student’s school principal regarding recent enhancements to our District’s bullying prevention efforts. I write to share a few updates to our program as the 2023-2024 school year gets underway:

Tom Thelen Presentation - Thursday, September 14th

Please be advised that our guest speaker for Thursday, September 14th, Tom Thelen, is being rescheduled to 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Abington Senior High School auditorium. Previously, Mr. Thelen’s program was scheduled to begin an hour prior. As a reminder, his presentation focuses on the topics of mental health and bullying prevention.

In addition to the rescheduled time, the program will be streamed live on our Abington School District YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/AbingtonSchoolDistrict/live. A recording of the program will be available on our YouTube channel through Friday, September 29th for those who wish to watch it at a later time.

Abington Pledge of Character

Later this month, all of our students will participate in signing the Abington Pledge of Character in their classrooms. The pledge highlights 10 character traits that we would like our students to embody in our collective efforts to build and maintain supportive school communities. These traits will all serve as monthly themes across the District through the end of the school year to promote good character.

As the pledge is rolled out in our buildings, we also invite our parent and guardian community to sign a digital version to show support of this initiative. You can access the form here: https://forms.gle/U9QyTfs1vYxsnZB47

We thank you for your cooperation in helping us foster positive learning environments for our students.

Regards,

Rob Rosenthal, Ph.D.
