It's National School Bus Safety Week, and there's no better time than now to familiarize yourself with school bus stopping laws:
1) When you meet a stopped school bus with red signal lights flashing and stop arm extended, you MUST STOP.
2) When you approach an intersection where a school bus is stopped with red signal lights flashing and stop arm extended, you MUST STOP, whether you are on the same street or the cross street.
3) You MUST STOP at least 10 feet away from the school bus.
4) Drivers do not have to stop on a highway with clearly defined dividing sections or physical barriers providing separate roadways. This only applies when the school bus is on the opposite side of the road.
5) You MUST WAIT until the red lights have stopped flashing and the stop arm has been withdrawn before moving.
6) DO NOT MOVE until all the children have reached a place of safety.
Please keep in mind that stop-arm safety technology is being installed on all ASD school buses to help Abington Police better enforce school bus stopping laws. The safety of our students as they travel to and from school is the responsibility of our entire community!

The Abington School District community is invited to join the students and staff of Abington Senior High School at the annual Trunk or Treat event, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 25, from 5-7 p.m. in the high school faculty parking lot. Costumes are encouraged!

On Wednesday night, October 16, the ASHS Chorale put on their annual Fall Coffee House in Caf C. 27 members of chorale performed solo and small group numbers. All proceeds benefited the choir. It was a packed house and a highly successful night!

On Tuesday, October 1, students from the ASHS Chorale (taught by Mrs. Wolf) and Advanced Acting (taught by Mrs. Whitman) traveled to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Chorale competed against 20 other area schools in the music competition, performing a 16th century madrigal, and placed in the top 5. Advanced Acting students got to hone their skills at an improv workshop. Students also enjoyed interacting with professional actors while in period costume at the faire.

Congratulations to Abington Senior High School students, Sydney Smith and Tiana Barnes, who were honored with scholarships at yesterday's annual Freedom Fund Banquet hosted by the Willow Grove NAACP. #ASDProud #AwardsofASD
