DECA in the Sixers Locker Room

Diverse Membership, Networking Opportunities, and Community Engagement Highlight Abington DECA's Success

The local chapter of Abington Senior High School’s DECA, a prominent business and entrepreneurship club, is celebrating an outstanding year of achievements, showcasing its growing success and commitment to student development. With a staggering 160 members spanning all grade levels, the club is making waves in the local community and beyond.

All-Inclusive Membership: DECA's remarkable achievement this year is its diverse and expansive membership. The club boasts 160 active members, representing students from all grade levels. This inclusivity has created a dynamic atmosphere that promotes creativity, learning, and growth for everyone involved.

Connecting with the Pros: Forty students from the DECA club had the opportunity to attend the 76ers Career Day, where they interacted with industry professionals, gaining valuable insights into potential career paths. The experience offered a unique chance for students to explore the world of sports business and marketing.

Professional Development: In addition to the 76ers event, 22 students participated in Jefferson's Professional Workshop, honing their business skills and networking with experts in various fields. These workshops provided valuable knowledge and hands-on experiences, preparing students for a competitive job market.

Networking and Learning: DECA's commitment to student success extends beyond guest speakers and workshops. The club organizes regular Q&A sessions with faculty members in career chatters, offering a platform for students to engage with their educators in an informal and educational setting.

Exploring Higher Education: Ten DECA members were granted an exclusive tour of Temple University's Fox School of Business, providing an inside look at one of the region's top business schools. The tour aimed to inspire students and expose them to the possibilities of higher education in business.

Community Engagement: In the spirit of giving back, the chapter actively participated in a "Trunk or Treat" event, bringing smiles to the faces of local children during Halloween. This initiative underlines DECA's commitment to not only fostering professional development but also being an active and positive force in the community.

Gearing Up for Success: As the year progresses, 65 dedicated DECA members are gearing up for the district competition in December. They have been working tirelessly to prepare and are set to represent the club with dedication and enthusiasm.

DECA's accomplishments this year are a testament to the commitment of its members and the club's dedication to providing students with invaluable experiences. As the club continues to grow and expand its offerings, it remains a shining example of the power of extracurricular activities in shaping the future leaders of our community.
