Dear Abington Senior High School Community,

I am pleased to introduce myself as the Interim Principal of Abington Senior High School, following Mr. Berrios’ long tenure in the District, most recently as a leader of the high school. Although I was here a couple of days last week to meet with Mr. Berrios and tour the building, yesterday was my first official day in my temporary role. Having recently retired from serving as Principal of Council Rock High School North for more than 20 years, I am loving being back in a school building!

I am also grateful to have received such a warm welcome at the Senior High yesterday, where I had the opportunity to meet with teachers and staff over coffee before the school day started. This morning, I paid a visit to the ACTIVE Academy’s The Perfect Blend, where I was honored to see that a new mango-flavored lemonade drink specially named after me was already sold out. This is truly a strong school community, of which I am honored to be a part, even if just for a brief time.

The plan is for me to provide support to the Abington Senior High School administrative team until a new principal is appointed and available to begin the position. You may also see Mr. Berrios in the building a few more times, as he will be returning to assist in this transition due to having a lot of institutional knowledge to impart. Additionally, I appreciate having the support of Dr. Fecher and the central administrative team, with whom I met yesterday to get better acquainted with the District as a whole.

If you need to reach me, I am located in Mr. Berrios’ old office, and the extension is the same, x2360. I can also be reached via email at SusanMcCarthy@abington.k12.pa.us. I am excited to begin this new phase of my career at Abington Senior High School, and look forward to having the opportunity to meet many of our staff, students and their families during my time here.

Regards,

Susan McCarthy
