Dear Abington School District Community,

Last night, the Board of School Directors approved the resignation of Abington Senior High School Principal Mr. Angelo Berrios, effective October 27, 2023. After more than two decades serving the students of Abington School District, and just over a decade as Principal, Mr. Berrios is leaving to become the Superintendent of Pennridge School District. We thank him for his years of service as a school leader, social studies teacher, mentor, and colleague.

As the position of high school principal is a high-profile leadership position that impacts every student who comes through our schools, it is important to the Abington School District administration that various stakeholders are represented in the interview process.

We have solicited the help of the Montgomery County Intermediate Until to assist in the search process so that we can ensure a broad and diverse candidate pool. The candidate search has already begun, and is expected to continue over the next several weeks. Dr. Melchor, Assistant Superintendent, and I will work closely with the current assistant principals during the transition until the successful candidate is able to begin their employment with the Abington School District.

In the meantime, please join me in wishing Mr. Berrios the best of luck in his new leadership role.

Regards,

Jeffrey S. Fecher, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
