OneASDOneFuture.org Now Updated with Details on the Proposed Plan

After a multi-year planning process, at the January 28 meeting of the Board of School Directors, the Board voted unanimously to put a $285 million Abington Middle School investment plan on the ballot during the primary election. Eligible voters in Abington Township and the Borough of Rockledge will vote on the plan on Tuesday, May 20. Abington School District has updated its facilities planning website - OneASDOneFuture.org - with information on the proposed plan.

The new school would be purposefully designed to meet modern education and student needs, improve accessibility, foster community and positive school culture, and provide the best long-term value for our community.

“This decision is the outcome of years of planning. We conducted comprehensive facilities assessments, consulted with independent experts, and received extensive community input,” said Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Fecher. “We are grateful to our community for their continued participation in this process. Residents have made it clear that the middle school is the most critical investment our district can make right now.”

OneASDOneFuture.org includes details on the District’s proposed plan, and features answers to frequently asked questions, a tax calculator to help residents estimate their individual tax impact, and voting information. The website also provides information on the multi-year facilities planning process and the challenges facing the current middle school.

“The plan for a new middle school is a community vision,” Fecher said. “Residents told us they want a voice in this decision that impacts public education and local tax rates. This is why we are once again turning to our community to have a say in this critical investment in the future of our Middle School through a referendum.”

If approved by voters, the anticipated tax impact on a median homestead value of $387,402 would be $54 per month, starting in 2026.
