Ms. Kelly Corbett, Assistant Principal

I am very excited to begin this school year at McKinley Elementary School where we are “Better Together!” This school year, I will serve as the Assistant Principal of McKinley and Rydal Elementary Schools and I look forward to getting to know the school communities of both schools.

My educational experiences afford me the opportunity to collaborate with diverse groups of professionals to meet common goals of increasing student achievement and community relationships.  Prior to serving as the Assistant Principal at McKinley, I was the Assistant Principal of Copper Beech Elementary School for four years.  I also had the pleasure of being the Elementary Curriculum Specialist for two years at Rydal Elementary School. I began my career as a Kindergarten teacher in McKinley, where I even attended as a child. I also taught first and fifth grades at Overlook Elementary Schools over my twelve-year career in the classroom.  My educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Scranton and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership with a Principal Certification from Gwynedd-Mercy University.

As an instructional leader, it is my belief that all students can learn and achieve educational goals when meaningful relationships exist within their school and community.  I have built close working relationships with staff, students, and families alike.  As we begin this school year, I look forward to continuing to build positive and trusting relationships while continuing to foster a culture that promotes motivated learners and curious minds.

I look forward to a wonderful year at McKinley and getting to know everyone in the community!

Ms. Maria Vaccaro, Supervisor of Special Education

I am so thrilled to support our students at McKinley Elementary school as the Supervisor of Special Education at McKinley.  I began my administrator experience at Abington School District in the 2017-2018 school year when I served as an Acting Supervisor of Special Education, Acting Assistant Principal and Acting Curriculum Specialist.  I have served as supervisor of Special Education at a variety of elementary schools in the district. Previously, I taught as a Special Education at Copper Beech Elementary and Mastery Charter Schools, Smedley Elementary in Philadelphia.

I earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Duquesne University.  I then received my master’s degree in Special Education from the Lynch School of Education at Boston College where I was a Donovan Urban Scholar.  I received my administrator certificate at Temple University.  Throughout college, I participated in the Best Buddies Program and created volunteer opportunities for students at the Children’s Institute as well as through the Special Olympics in Pittsburgh, PA.

I am honored to be part of the McKinley Elementary community.  I believe that building a collaborative relationship among teachers, parents, administrators and the community is critical to the success of each student. I am eager to apply my experience with co-teaching, inclusion, and providing academic and behavioral support.  I am committed to ensuring that we meet the needs of each student.
