Instruction:
Students receive instruction in library information skills and cyber safety throughout their middle school years to make them more familiar with the library, to help them become independent researchers and learners, and to assist students in acting safely and responsibly when using web-based content. Librarians also conduct book talks and readers’ advisory to support the curriculum and to promote pleasure reading. Library instruction is scheduled within the grade 6 Pathways course. In grades 7 & 8, library instruction is embedded throughout content area coursework and selected projects. In addition, students will visit the library monthly through their English Language Arts class in grades 7 & 8.
Student Involvement:
Students may volunteer to work as Library Aides. Those interested should listen to announcements during the first weeks of school.
Using the Library:
Students may visit the library at various times to work on projects or to borrow materials. During the day, a pass signed by a teacher is required to visit the Library from workshop or another class. Students may come to the Library without a pass between classes and after school. After school, students may come to the library without a pass but should report to the library by 3:15 pm to be admitted. Student IDs are required to enter the Library at all times.
The library is open Mondays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Overdue materials:
Students are responsible for all borrowed materials. Borrowing privileges will be withdrawn if obligations are not met.
Sign-out process:
Students should take the selected materials to the aide or librarian at the circulation desk where they will be checked out using the bar code. A Date Due card will be placed in the book pocket noting when to return the materials.
